Physical Activity Participation

Each Thursday, our students meet after school to improve their cardiovascular endurance and work on their skill-related components of fitness. We take our resting heart rate, during activity heart rate, and after activity heart rate. We have seen a significant improvement in the hear rate of the active students. We also provide snacks for our FUTP 60 students (cheese sticks and milk). We love our milk!

How did you accomplish your goals?

Each student set their own high, but achievable goals. Upon completion of these personal goals, we have a time of celebration.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students are extremely excited about coming to our Thursday FUTP 60 time. The fitness level of the students has continued to rise as a result of the time we have together.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

It is school-wide team effort. Our school nurse makes sure we have the snacks each and every Thursday; we have volunteers from the community (both parents and VIP's), and the P.E. teacher works with teacher volunteers to design and implement the lesson plan. We also have individuals in the background that fill gaps and are a constant source of encouragement.
