Timber Creek Runners ROCK!

Morning Mile is not new at Timber Creek Elementary, but many of our runners are. We are starting our third year of the program and have quadrupled our program participation, walking/running 1,258 miles since Sept. 1. All students in grades K-5 are encouraged to participate and about 50% of our students do.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Teachers and parents are on hand to help out, with several of our students' parents running with their children.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students are given the opportunity to expend energy before going to class. They are also gaining self-confidence while getting more fit and developing a dedication to a healthy lifestyle.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

I will continue the program promoting it on announcements, Twitter, Facebook, and our bulletin board. Students are also recognized for every 10 miles they complete, both with a foot token and necklace.
