Tolson Thunderbirds share FUTP 60 with a big Kickoff!

On April 15, Tolson Thunderbirds in Tucson Arizona held a Kickoff assembly to introduce Fuel Up to Play 60 at their school and promote healthy choices for students' meal selection and physical activity breaks. The Student Wellness Advocacy Team shared tips for maintaining a health body and a healthy mind, but that's not all! Football players from Pima Community College joined us on stage to share their fitness routines and healthy lifestyle choices. Students asked a lot of good questions about how they could achieve their health goals. The football players even challenged students to a push-up challenge. In the end, over 300 students were able to learn tons of good things and have fun!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students and adults practiced good teamwork by planning the Kickoff event from start to finish. Students were able to decide on the intro music (I Like to Move It, Move It from the movie Madagascar!) and what information was important to share with their peers. The adults were able to set the stage for the video and music, so that the Student Wellness Advocacy Team could do their thing!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

This event was just the Kickoff of our wellness weeks at Tolson Elementary! We plan on having more Plays that allow the whole school to participate, such as Healthy Eating and In-Class Activity Breaks. Everyday students share Fun Facts on the assembly and a Question so that students can answer to win "Tolson Bucks" for prizes.
