The students are Truman Elementary stepped outside the comfort zone of their school to motivate and show their support for their neighborhood high school boys basketball team. The students were able to see how proper nutrition plays a key role in staying healthy and fit, and how without proper nutrition, the boys basketball team would not be as successful as they are. The students were able to shoot along with the high school students during halftime and got an opportunity to partake in their home game.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We conducted a "Bring your Parent to P.E." day, which gave parents the opportunity to participate with their kids during P.E. "Bring your Parent to P.E" is a new initiative that is being used to promote the many positive things being done by the P.E Programs in our district, as well as motivate our parents to get more involved in the physical activities of their children. Parents were able to see and experience how students are learning to lead a physically active and healthy life.
