Trying new foods is fun!

Trying new foods is fun!

The student team at Owl Creek has teamed up with the district food service department to help promote Harvest of the Month. Each month a new, locally purchased food is served in the cafeteria. Students who bring their own lunch are offered a taste test. The district dietitian prepares a tasty dish and offers recipes for the students to take home. Students vote on whether they like the new dish. If the the dish is favored by the students, it will be incorporated into the menu rotation. The FUTP60 team has practically taken over the marketing! Each month the students create informational posters, make morning announcements to remind the student body to participate, and even help with the distribution of the of the taste test samples. The students love their leadership role.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students tag-teamed onto an awesome program the district was already providing. When students help with the taste test/Harvest of the Month, other students are more likely to participate. The team also has sense of ownership for the program.
