From March 18-22, our school dressed like, talked about, and ate veggies. Each day was assigned a different color to wear celebrating that color vegetable. Vegetable posters and pictures were all over the building. Students were asked to bring in a veggies to eat in cold lunches or snack and hot lunches had different veggies to try. The main game of the week in gym class was couch potato. The middle school next door sent representatives over with stickers to encourage students to try vegetables at lunch time. Everyone learned more about the importance of eating vegetables.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Staff were also asked to wear the specific color of the day also. Each day classrooms sent photos of who was dressed in the correct color. Mon - Green, Tues - Red, Wed - white, Thurs- yellow, Fri - orange
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
On white day - all staff and students were asked to take the Jicama challenge. Trying a jicama stick was new and different but most tried them and some liked them. They will be on the menu again.
What improvements have you seen at your school?
When I get down to the cafeteria, they students are always showing me the healthy foods in their lunches.
