The Adams Elementary Garden Club called "Dig In" has been hard at work educating students about the importance of eating vegetables and making healthy meal choices. The students conducted presentations for Kinder through 2nd grade students to show them the school's garden and to educate them on the types of vegetables they are growing.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
The students prepared and researched the information to use in the presentation and they practiced prior to presenting to the students. They also worked together to setup and maintain the garden.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
Weather challenges prevented us from starting our garden until the spring, but we have successfully planted in all 9 of our garden beds and plants are beginning to grow! Also, we have limited funding, but we get donations from parents and community members to help us maintain the garden.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
We have 4th and 5th grade students in our Garden Club who will tend to the garden this school year and the 4th graders will lead the way for our school next year. Our staff sponsors work hard to ensure that the garden is maintained during the summer as well.
