Members of the Fuel Up to Play 60 club wanted to get students who are not already involved in afterschool athletics up and moving. So every Thursday, they recruit students who are waiting to get picked up by their parents to join in a pick-up game of kickball. It has been wonderful to see students taking on leadership roles and encouraging students who are not already active to just come and out and play. Kickball Thursdays has now become a Viking staple.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The students are very excited about offering after-school options for students who do not want to join a sports team but would like to get active. In addition to Kickball Thursdays, we want to incorporate other activities that students may not be too familiar with, including yoga and fitness circuit training, all run by teachers in the school. We plan to continue to meet every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until the end of the school year.
