Walk and Talk Makes Us Willard Strong!

In the final 10 minutes of students' lunch time, they may choose to participate in Walk and Talk, our school's new walking program. Students walk on the Walk and Talk track and track their progress. Students hear their names on the announcements and get their photos taken every five miles that they walk.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Walk and Talk happens at lunchtime, so it is hard to find volunteers to monitor the track. Some days the track has to be closed because not enough volunteers are available. Upon learning this, some teachers started donating their lunchtime to be monitors.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Our school discipline data show that behavior incidents in the cafeteria are down this year, compared to last year when Walk and Talk didn't exist.
