walk or bike to school and/or zumba and yoga day
Twice a year our Miles S.W.A.T. team organizes the event called walk or bike to school day. This event encourages students, families and staff to exercise by walking or biking to school. Students, families and staff who are unable to bike or walk to school are provided with an alternative that maintains exercise and fun. One of our experienced zumba students and her dad leads a zumba and yoga activity. Students who participate in this activity or walk or bike to school are entered in a raffle to win fun prizes that keep them active such as sports balls (basketballs, soccer balls and more), hats, watches, razor scooters and more. Students enjoy this event because it gives them an opportunity to dance, listen to music, exercise and win fun prizes with friends, family and staff.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

We had a problem with the students being unable to walk or bike to school because of certain restrictions but we provided an alternative that allows all students to participate and get entered in the raffle.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We plan to keep this event going by maintaining to collect fun prizes and getting the word out to all families and staff.
