Walk to School Day 2016

The first Wednesday in October was Walk to School Day. The school partnered with the Greater Mercer TMA to host a walk-to-school event. Students and parents walked to school and upon arrival participated in a Safety and Activity game. See photo.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students, staff, parents and community teamed up by advertising the event. All participated in walking to school and supporting the wellness goals for the school.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Collaboration between staff and parents was key to accomplishing goals. Coordination between staff and the community partner was also necessary to accomplish the goals. Administration support for the event was also necessary.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Challenges were to have parents aware of the event. Another challenge was the weather for the day of the event. The last challenge was community partner availability at the early time of the event.
