Walk/Bike to School Day Kickoff

On October 12 we held our Walk/Bike to School Day Fuel Up to Play 60 Kickoff with eight Walking School Bus/Bike Train routes led by 12 teachers. 200 participants received a fruit/yogurt smoothie made with the smoothie bike.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Participation was a challenge last year. This year we sent home fliers, made daily announcements at school, and used the school's school-wide email and parent phone call system the night before.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Students were given a tracking sheet. When they walk 20 times and turn in the card, they earn a charm bracelet. They can earn more charms each time they fill up a new sheet.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We sent home fliers, made daily announcements the week before, hung up posters advertising the event, and utilized the school's email and automated phone call system.
