At Irving Elementary we strive to be the best, so not only are we a blue zone school but we created a walking and running club outside. We didn't stop there. The next year, we created the Exercise Club so that during the winter months, the kids can still exercise indoors. Our walking/running club started doing laps around the football field right next to our school and has moved to around our playground so the kids, parents and staff can get more time to exercise. Our Exercise Club is in the gym, where all who come get to do different movements on each side of the gym. We do army crawling, locomotion skills, jump through hoops, jump over hurdles, and much more. This year, we added a computer program where everyone gets a ID scan card that keeps track of fun and exciting data like laps completed, miles completed, calories burned and much more! This keeps it fun and interesting for all and also gives out badges for miles completed and can notify parents when kids come to school.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Continue to change and make these and new programs better and more exciting.
