Jason Schlautman, Gretchen Reeder Elementary School
Physical Activity Participation
At Reeder Elementary, we offer walking club to our entire school, every single school day. We have walking club no matter what the weather is like. If the weather is bad, we move walking club inside. Twenty minutes before school, our walking routes open. Whenever students get to school, they join the route. A few minutes before the bell rings, we shut down walking club and students line up to get ready to start their day. What a great way to get everyone moving in the morning! The picture attached shows our students participating in walking club indoors on a day it was snowing.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
This Play has become a daily routine for our students. Our students look forward to walking club because it gives them a chance to be active and talk to their friends at the same time. It's a great way to get their bodies and minds ready for a new day!
