Physical Activity Participation

Our walking club was a huge success this year! The students became very competitive trying to out-do their classmates as they tracked their steps, working for the highest total. The outcome from this became contagious with the rest of our school community as teachers began joining us and competing against each other. From this, we developed a school-wide walking club where teachers began competing against each other. This then grew into our school and another school tracking and comparing results. It was a great experience not only for our students, but for the teachers at two schools.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The health of not only the students in our school, but also the increased involvement of the staff, has helped motivate our school community into becoming healthier and more aware of the benefits of exercise.
