Walking for a Cure
We started a morning Walking Club that met every day before school for the month of October.  The kids were asked to donate a penny each day that they came to walk. We walked a mile or more each morning. During the month of October, we raised $89.35 to be donated to a local breast cancer research facility. The kids enjoyed walking every morning, so we decided for the month of November, since it's so cold outside, that we would do a Dance Club each morning before school. The kids are donating cans of food for the local food pantry during November. We are having a blast and the kids are getting exercise. We also held a healthy smoothie tasting on October 30th and November 1st. The kids really enjoyed the "monster juice".

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Sometimes it was cold, so we would just come inside and walk the hallways.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We all walked together and brought in pennies to help find a cure for breast cancer.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The kids are excited about exercising and helping others.
