Physical Activity Participation

This year our campus started a school-wide recess for all after lunch. Every grade level from Pre-K, Sp.Ed., Kinder-5th enjoy being active no matter if it’s raining or the sun is shining. They spend their last 10 minutes of their lunch periods moving. When the weather is cold and wet, the students go to the gym and are ready to boogie. We would project different types of music with dance moves so they could follow along and get moving. Every day, students wanted to be reassured that it was a dancing day. If it wasn’t a dancing day, they had different activity stations in the gym. Now that our days have been getting hotter, our students cannot wait to get outside. If they see the sun is out, they know it is an outside day. Students love running around at the park, playing on the playground, football, soccer, walking around with friends and even good old tag. Our Sp.Ed. students look forward to playing outside, which has an inclusive playground enabling special needs children to build the necessary social skills to handle any circumstance. At our school, we are all in, all abilities!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Teachers will take students out for extra play time when they have done extra well in class or shown good character.
