One of our greatest accomplishments this year with Fuel Up to Play 60 was in our school garden. Students were able to plant seeds, harvest crops, and taste the fruit of their labor. Not only were students being active in our school garden as they grew plants, they were also growing their brains and learning about healthy eating choices. Students were exposed to vegetables they had never seen or tasted before such as radishes and cauliflower.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
One of the fundamental ways that students and adults worked together as a team was in our Ambassador program. 4th and 5th grade students were chosen to serve as Ambassadors for our campus. They worked alongside the physical education coaches to plan for the additional play time that students were given, as well as served as role models and leaders to make sure everyone was safe and having fun during that time.
