We are What We Eat at North Salisbury

Students are given whole food choices as snacks, like apples, bananas, pears, fruit cups as well as healthy sides like salads, veggies and dip and salads on a daily basis. Students can articulate reasons behind their healthy choices they have made all year.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students work with our PTA to have them provide whole fruits and water instead of sugary snacks and beverages at school events. Our cafeteria staff also made sure we had options for students and staff as well for lunch.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Students helped encourage students who made unhealthy choices cut back or change their unhealthy habits.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Accountability! Student's would let staff know they were making an unhealthy choices when seen with sodas or junk food and vis versa. Everyone encouraged physical activity and celebrated outside of school successes as well as in school successes.
