Hemlock Creek Elementary School participates in in-class physical activity breaks on a regular basis. Classroom teachers provide a variety of movement breaks for students to move to in order to get their heart rate up. Activities include dancing, chair squats, exercises, beach ball toss, and much more. Students talk about how much they love these opportunities to move in their classroom in addition to their physical education and recess times.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
Our FUTP 60 Student Team helps come up with different exercise breaks and then records videos of the different exercises for classrooms to watch and try on their own. It is an easy way for the Student Team to be leaders in our school and also for the teachers to incorporate movement breaks into their classrooms. This is something that we will continue to do in the future because of the success it has had this school year and because of how simple and easy it is for us to do.
