Weekly Healthy Meal

Every Thursday, our class teams up with our local OSU extension office to prepare a healthy meal. Students get involved by preparing the food, washing, chopping, and dividing up portions. The students prepare the food and share with other classes.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The most difficult thing our school struggles with is the ability to purchase healthy food for our students. We don't have extra funding for equipment, fitness rooms, or other healthy choice items. Our community steps up and donates things when they can.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Our students work together as a team. They encourage one another to make healthy choices. They encourage one another to try different foods and activities and they root each other on when pushing through difficult activities.

How did you accomplish your goals?

As a health and fitness coach, I hold my students accountable for their actions. My students try and give effort. They have tried all the healthy meals and snacks we have been able to bring in and they are willing to give any new activity a try.
