Community Involvement

This year, we had a huge kick off event at Graves that included Wharton 5th Grade Center. We invited local health providers, doctors, dentists, and raffled off prizes like pedometers, and free tickets to our local soccer team. We had over 500 people come out and learn how to be more healthy.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We accomplished our goals by having all Physical education teachers and the curriculum director contact local vendors to get their support. Then the PE teachers worked together with other school staff and created this event.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We had such a great response that we see a huge need in offering our community a day to learn about ways to be more healthy.
