We are adding a wellness piece to our bike rodeo this year. Our K-Kids will be sponsoring the event. We will have a fruit tasting station provided by our local grocery store for students and parents. We will have a blood pressure station available for adults where our school nurse and another parent nurse will run. There will be a smoothie station where the smoothies are blended by using a bicycle (pedaling turns the blender). Students and parents will be able to pedal and eat smoothies. The health department will be there for families to purchase helmets and ensure they fit properly. We will also have school water bottles for purchase to encourage drinking more water during the school day. Our K-Kids will sell walking tacos and donate funds made to the city rec center. All this will be going on while students can take the bike assessment and learn about safety.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The wellness committee brainstormed ideas and the K-Kids will put the ideas into action.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have become more aware about wellness by participating in all our district wellness challenges as a school. Each challenge has morning announcements daily during their week. We also have been utilizing "Go Noodle" at all grade levels.
