Access to Healthy Foods, Community Involvement, Student Leadership, Teamwork
During the first full week of December, our Fuel Up to Play 60 Team sponsored a food drive. Each grade level was encouraged to bring in nonperishable food items to be given to our local food pantry. Our FUTP 60 students wrote the note that was sent home to all Winskill students and shared announcements to encourage giving by all of our students.
At the end of the week, our FUTP 60 food drive was able to give over 900 items to the local food pantry. We received help from a former Winskill teacher and her husband to deliver the food. This truly was a show of the Spirit of Giving that lives at Winskill!
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Students wrote the notes and went around collecting the food each day. With the help of teachers and a former staff member, we were able to get all the food delivered to the local food pantry.
