Community Involvement, Physical Activity Participation
In December, our FUTP 60 club planned a Winter Wonderland Dance with the help of our parent liaison. The students created and displayed decorations, wrote and gave announcements and presentations for each classroom to advertise the dance and built gingerbread houses to inspire others in our community to create! Those houses were used as decorations and were judged by our community. Music was chosen and a DJ played their favorite dance tunes to get people moving on the dance floor. All ages from toddlers to adults were up and dancing in our gym.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Students and adults created decorations. Students also asked the adults in the families or community to sign up and help the night of the dance.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
One of the challenges in preparing for the dance was getting adults to sign up to help. Students were persistent in asking and bringing it to their families and community's attention. A challenge the night of the dance was encouraging and interacting with our littlest community members that were running around and dancing WITH them.
