Physical Activity Participation
Our school has a lot of kids that just sit around or stand around at recess time. Many kids spend recess playing on their phones. We hosted a ramp up for recess event with structured activities for each grade level. Activities included a soccer game, basketball, an obstacle course, and our school's favorite, capture the football! Almost everyone at 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade recesses participated in an event, and the students that chose not to participate were still up moving around and watching the events. It was a huge success!!!!

How did you accomplish your goals?

We got the majority of the school active during recess time by providing a few structured activities at recess time.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Our student leader team helped to choose the activities, and staff at our school volunteered to supervise and participate in the event. I bet 90% of our staff participated in some way!

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Challenges were getting kids that don't like to be active to participate.
