Wolverines in the News

Jenness Stock,   Washington Elem School
Student Leadership,  Teamwork
Our team of eight Ambassadors researched healthy eating on and wrote a script to share on our Friday video announcements. The students talked about healthy choices and shared a graphic model of MyPlate. They focused on the dairy servings needed every day in order to be healthy, have strong bones, and great teeth. The announcement was five minutes in length and was well received by the entire school of almost 600 students. Many students have asked if they can join the FUTP 60 team and how they can be an Ambassador too!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Our ambassadors plan to search for monthly news stories to share with the school. They want to do stories about fitness, certain sports, and other food groups that are part of MyPlate.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The two advisors and the eight Ambassadors met weekly at lunch to do the research and write the script for the video announcements.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students come talk to the nurse about their healthy choices and how to make better choices. The nurse selects different students to eat with her regularly and they talk about how to make healthy choices at home, too.
