On Sept. 26th, Emanuel County Family Connection sponsored the first "World School Milk Day" at Swainsboro Elementary School. This was our Fuel Up to Play 60 kick-off event.
The day started with students being rewarded for drinking their milk at breakfast. The Chick-Fil-A cow was there to encourage the students to eat breakfast and drink milk. The students were awarded "mini moos" (stuffed mini Chick-Fil-A cow). Family Connection served fruit smoothie samples to the 5th grade class during lunch.
Students were asked to make posters promoting milk and the nutritional benefits of drinking milk. The posters were displayed in the cafeteria and winners were announced. Students were also encouraged to wear milk or cow themed shirts to celebrate World School Milk Day. Students gave nutritional tips during the morning announcements throughout the week encouraging students to eat low fat dairy for strong bones and teeth.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
The students volunteered their time along with adults to make this event happen. Students helped make the smoothies to hand out before school. Adults volunteered to hand out milk mustaches and other stickers to show that our event was taking place. Everyone worked well together to make sure the event went smoothly.
