Worms Enter the School Garden
Students in Health class participate in hands on learning of composting worms. The school garden benefits greatly from the classroom worms composting food waste from the school cafeteria. Students learn about lessening methane gas in landfills and improving soil in the school garden. The worms are cared for by all the students in health class. Students harvest and work in the school gardens too.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Grow Ohio Valley provided the worms and helped establish the classroom procedures for the worms.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The soil the worms produce is beautiful dark brown and full of nutrients. Can't wait to see how our garden grows!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students help work in the garden each week. The worms are tended to in the classroom all year long. MMS students love our classroom worms.
