During the week of January 21-25, community members came to our campus and showed our students the Sun Salutation and a fun jumping warm-up. The following week, during our warm-ups, we reviewed these two activities. A letter was sent out to the staff to include these activities in their brain breaks. A diagram/poster and instructions on how to do the jumping warm-up was included. In my class, I chose students to lead the activity so if there were questions, these leaders could clarify.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
My challenge was two-fold. First, I needed to learn how to do the Sun Salutation. I videoed a student performance and participated with the students. Then I needed to find a poster to help in assisting the students through this process when they were not in class. There was not a perfect poster for this, but I was able to make subtle alterations to make the yoga challenge work.
