Our students are encouraged to participate in Yoga with the counselor, stretching exercises during breaks, and participation in Go Noodle and Brain Breaks with their teachers during curriculum changes. (e.g., after Math, before Science begins take a Brain Break) Our KG classroom at times sounds like elephants dancing and jumping around..... but they are able to sit and focus afterwards.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Students show good behavior during class time in order to earn dance breaks, stretching activities, or extra recess. Our school also does walking recess to a park that is only 2 blocks from school.
