Our team created a Google form to collect information on what healthy toppings students would like to try on yogurt. We then ordered the top 4 toppings and yogurt from our school nutrition staff. We offered yogurt parfaits during lunch and brought in a retired dairy farmer to share information with the students about how the yogurt gets from the cow to their tables! The students did great! They made the form, called the framer, ordered the toppings and everything!
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Our FUTP 60 team had to work with our nutrition staff, administration, and students. They promoted the event by going to the administration for approval, asking office personnel to be able to make announcements, calling the farmer to schedule him to come in and talk, and ordering the ingredients. Our team also served the parfaits, cleaned up, and offered parfaits to school staff!
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
We are looking to add yogurt parfaits to our end of the day snack shack that is in the works. Our school has been under construction, so we are busy planning for when the concession area is complete! We would like to offer these on a regular basis in the future.
What improvements have you seen at your school?
The response to the parfaits was excellent! We discussed adding these on a regular basis and are working towards adding this to our concessions on a regular basis and possibly at after school games.
