Community Involvement, Physical Activity Participation, Student Leadership, Teamwork
On November 10th, 2016 MKMS FUTP 60 held a running event that raised money for the Great American Milk Drive. We are very proud of our efforts as we raised 470 dollars! Students volunteered to be runners or zombies and all participants contributed. Our group was further supported by parent and staff volunteers as well as NHS Key Club students. Students enjoyed a snack prepared by the MKMS Cafe at the end of the run and danced to the Macarena. We had a number of students who ran about 3 miles that afternoon. Congratulations to all of our runners and zombies for a job well done!
How did students and adults work together as a team?
We have sponsored fun runs in the past, so this year we were excited to provide an opportunity for the school community to donate money for the Great American Milk Drive. We were pleased with the turnout and support, and our Zombies for a Cause raised 470 dollars! Students learned about the procedures one has to take to have a fundraiser as well as how to create and organize this type of event. Staff learned the benefits of combining a fun activity with community service, where everybody wins!
