When I started the school year the other coaches informed me that exercising was a minor concern for the students last year. When we started the school year we all agreed on incorporating music with exercise. It was a big hit! The students were enjoying dancing, not even realizing they were exercising as well. This year we have also looked at the children’s diets to keep them as healthy as possible. Every morning over the school wide announcements, I introduce examples of fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and healthy alternatives to sodas and sugar filled fruit drinks. We have tried to instill in our students the love of exercising and how it is a necessity, and not a choice. Thank You.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

By promoting and advertising a healthy lifestyle.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The kids are exercising more and eating healthier.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Getting the parents more involved. We would go up to parents and ask them to take their kids to the runs. Also we are seeing healthier lunch boxes.
